For the quietly unconventional.
For couples who planned it their way - and want to remember it all.
Hey, I’m Christine. I love anything vintage, floral or maximalist. I'm a sucker for silly stickers, pins or T-shirts with puns. I live for wholesome moments and get a little scared when I realise how quickly time goes by. My way of coping, is to document as much as I can. I am also a sucker for dogs.
I'm not interested in recreating wedding photos that could belong to anyone. I'm interested in catching yours - the movement, the nerves, the moment your partner's face changed when they saw you, the parts you didn't plan but will never forget.
I work documentary-style, which means I photograph the day as if I’m a guest who knows her stuff - and guide you just enough to make sure you end up with something worth wallpapering your house with. I’m a great timekeeper and keep things ticking a long, working closely with your suppliers so that you get time with your guests as well as the photos you want.
Christine / PhotographerWhat I actually doThis isn't just a photoshoot for me. It's your day - and I'm just paying very close attention.
I'm looking for the things that happen when nobody's performing. The way your hand found theirs before you walked in. The breath your mum took when she saw you. The moment during the speeches when your partner looked at you thinking nobody was watching. I was watching. That's the job.
How I workTwelve years of knowing exactly where to stand - and when to stay out of the way.
My approach is simple. Before your wedding I get to know you, your day, and the people who matter most in it. On the day itself I follow the feeling - disappearing into the background most of the time, and guiding you gently into a handful of spots that make the kind of photos you'll actually want to frame. I’m super sentimental and love a few good details, so those will be captured too!
The group shots? I keep a small, intentional list, round everyone up quickly, and get it done. So you can get back to your wedding.
Then I go quiet again. Catching the goofy smiles on your face during the dancing. The look your partner gives you when they think nobody's watching. The moments you won't remember until you see them in your gallery - and then you'll want to wallpaper your house with them.
Who I am
I'm South African-Scottish, which surprises people until they meet me; then it makes complete sense. I spent half my life in the UK before relocating to Ottawa in 2024 with my husband and our little one, and I've been falling for this city ever since. The light. The seasons. The fact that there are so many genuinely cool venues here and people who actually appreciate photography.
My couples are the ones who did it their way. Unapologetically. From South Africa to Scotland to England to Ottawa, the same people have always found me. The quirky venue. The non-traditional dress. The wedding that made complete sense to them and raised a few eyebrows everywhere else. Those are my people. Those are the galleries worth printing and putting on your walls.
Most of them still @ me on Insta. Some send Christmas cards. I consider that the best review this job has ever given me.
In 2024 I was diagnosed with a brain tumour and needed emergency surgery. I documented everything, because that's what I do, and because I already knew that photos are how we hold onto the things that matter most. It made me even more certain that this work is worth doing properly. The small moments as much as the big ones. Maybe more.
Ps: I’m absolutely fine now and absolutely THRIVING with such a renewed passion for this job!
I also run Thewildyears.ca , a Kanata based studio which focuses on childhood and all the fun stuff that comes with that!
If you’re looking for someone to show up, feel like they’re a guest, and catch everything that matters - let’s talk.
